Tips & tricks to beat dehydration

Dehydration symptoms

The body consists of around 65% water. That’s right, more than half of you is water! Unfortunately for us, this means the body constantly needs to be replenished with liquids. Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it is consuming. Dehydration has a couple of stages. If you have symptoms of:

  • Dry mouth
  • dizziness
  • a headache
  • slight fatigue

chances are you are suffering from mild dehydration. If you are suffering from symptoms such as:

  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • stomach bloating
  • a migraine
  • fainting

you may have a severe case of dehydration & should report to your nearest urgent care.

1. Drink water

The easiest way to dehydration is to always think about water For some of us this is very easy & is part of our lifestyle naturally. For other water is not something thought about often. A couple of ways to get in the habit of thinking about water are

  • download an app that reminds you on your phone
  • Think about your day & if you will be able to access water
  • Start your day with water

2. Change your diet

If you switch up your diet you can implement more food that is more water-based. This will help you out if you don’t like drinking water or keep forgetting to. Foods that are mainly water based are:

  • Watermelons
  • kiwi
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • celery

3. Alcohol dehydrates

If you are out for a night out make sure to drink water! Even though alcohol is a liquid it dehydrates the body. Water on a night out will help decrease your hangover the next morning & also keep you at a safe level all night!
